The Do's and Do Not's of Roof Cleaning

Your roof is the most important component to your home. It shelters you from weather, protects your belongings, and maintains the environment inside your home. We value you, your belongings, and your investment in your home. For that reason, we want to make sure you are aware of what to look for in the care of your roof.
  1. Look for a professional. Ask to see before and after pictures of work performed in the past. Ask for references. We will gladly provide them!
  2. Make sure they are insured! Pressure Pros carries a $1,000,000 liability policy.
  3. DO NOT USE HIGH PRESSURE! Many shingle manufacturers will void a warranty on a roof once a pressure washer has been used. Please read the technical bulletin on our website from the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association. Pressure Pros uses a non-pressure cleaning method that is approved by the ARMA and Roof Cleaning Institute of America.
  4. Be aware of your low cost cleaners! Your roof is a valuable asset – use a professional that
    provides value!

Pressure Pros understands there are many methods to clean roofs. However, Pressure Pros specialists practice safe work methods and use proven roof cleaning methods that have been used and approved for decades!

The Condition of Your Roof

What is the condition of your roof? Many believe the growth of fungus and algae are signs that their roof may need to be replaced. Most of the time, this is not the case. Pressure Pros is dedicated to maintaining integrity and will always make a professional recommendation before working! After evaluation, if we feel the roof needs to be replaced, then we will let you know!

Signs a roof may need to be replaced:
  1. Sagging
  2. Leaking
  3. Rotting
  4. Curling of shingles
  5. Granule loss
  6. Missing shingles
All these sign will be assessed in our initial FREE consultation.

Just because your roof has algae growth does not mean it needs to be treated. The damage from algae occurs over many years of presence on a surface. Our long-term recommendation is to address algae before it becomes a problem. However, the short-term treatment on a roof may be for preventative measure or purely aesthetic purposes.

Roof Cleaning Can Increase the Value of Your Home

Recently, a family was looking to sell their home. The home is beautiful, in an upscale neighborhood, and had the amenities any family would love – master bedroom, swimming pool, etc. Visiting online brought the home to life. There were over 15 pictures of the beautiful hard wood floors, the yard, but yet there was only one picture of the front of the home angled so the roof was hardly seen. Face on, the roof's appearance completely replaced my memory of luxury and beautiful hardwood floors. The roof was COVERED in mold and the dark red roof was BLACK!

Roof cleaning can drastically increase curb appeal and the value of your home.

Inspectors look at items such as mold and fungus when assessing property. A Houston show, “Great Day Houston”, reported a $500 roof cleaning could add $10,000 value to your home.
